With the strengths Oxfordshire has in research and development, StreetDrone were invited by Oxfordshire Local Enterprise Partnership (OxLEP) to the first of a series of economic growth insight briefings to MPs at the House of Commons.
The briefing, attended by our Chief Scientist, Adrian Bedford, looked at the ‘Focus on Connected and Autonomous Vehicles: transforming the way we connect communities’, something that StreetDrone is working towards.
Mike Potts commented, “Building and testing driverless technology is complex, time-consuming and expensive. We want to help organisations short-cut the development process so they can concentrate on developing the features and technology that will safely propel autonomous vehicles into the mainstream. We want every business, testing facility, educational institute and software developer working on autonomy today to have affordable and flexible access to self-driving solutions, which will help drive the industry forward.”
Oxfordshires 2017 Science and Innovation Audit demonstrated the county’s skills in Autonomous Vehicles, amongst others, and the potential to add £180bn GVA growth to the UK economy by 2030.
