StreetDrone launches e-NV200 autonomous-ready minivan with first customer, London-based testbed SMLL
Oxford, UK – May 21st 2019
StreetDrone, a self-driving systems provider to autonomous businesses has today announced its latest addition to its open interface, autonomous-ready vehicle range.
Building on its successful deployments of the Renault Twizy (for organisations such as Wayve, HKPC, Millbrook Proving Ground and Parkopedia), StreetDrone will be offering the Nissan e-NV200 as a turnkey autonomous-ready vehicle for tech developers looking to quickly, simply and safely validate and improve their advancements.
StreetDrone’s newest vehicle integrates full drive-by-wire capability, sensors on a flexible adaptable roof rack, a future-proofed computational hardware bay, and fully connected data services. The e-NV200 vehicle will be perfectly catered to the emerging Robotaxi market, with 5 and 7 seat options available for those looking to scale from initial R&D to commercial deployment. The StreetDrone system is compliant with the UK Department for Transport’s guidelines for public road testing of automated vehicles, which also helps its customers deploy autonomous businesses internationally.
In addition, StreetDrone will be supporting its customers in deploying open source self-driving software, with the company working to achieve compatibility with software stacks such as Autoware as part of its commitment as a founding member of the Autoware Foundation. This will allow those who wish to deploy autonomous businesses, to do so without having to build the back end technologies from scratch.
Mike Potts, StreetDrone CEO, said “It’s been clear for a long time that our self-driving technologies are helping our customers to get started with their autonomous businesses, but that a bigger vehicle would enable a significant number of new usecases. Adding the all-electric Nissan 7 seater e-NV200 to the fleet means that we can now deploy for hardware-heavy R&D and software validation, as well as initial roll outs of robotaxi and logistics fleets. We think this vehicle can be a real game changer in Europe and potentially throughout the world. “
The first deployment of the new StreetDrone platform will take place at the Smart Mobility Living Lab (SMLL), an advanced connected testbed using public and private roads in London to safely develop and commercialise new transport technologies. StreetDrone has been engaged by SMLL to provide an open interface demonstration platform that can be used by the testbed to validate new technologies and business models.
StreetDrone’s e-NV200 platform will be available for purchase from Q3 2019, with StreetDrone currently taking limited pre-orders. For sales enquiries and further information please contact Business Development manager Joe Smith: email@example.com
StreetDrone’s mission is to speed up the deployment of new mobility businesses that have autonomy at their heart, providing essential technologies that shortcut the deployment of autonomous vehicles. StreetDrone provides autonomous-ready and application-connected vehicle platforms (with drive-by-wire, functional safety and integrated sensors) for multiple use-cases, as well as data tools and assistance with open source software development.
StreetDrone is a founding member of the Autoware Foundation, a non-profit organization supporting open-source projects enabling self-driving mobility.
